Praise the Lord

We had an eventful trip down. Everyone made it fine. Upon arriving at Port au Prince we met Karen and found that she had a stressful day. When she arrived at the airport, she went into the washroom and was attacked by a man who hit her three times and stole her money. She has a bruise on her forehead but she is doing OK and we thank God for her protection. We had a two hour wait at the airport while she tried to identify the man on tape but no success.
We had an exciting drive from PaP to the compound. We all traveled together in a large bus with a driver who had no fear. Haitian driving is like no other driving on earth. It's where you learn how to pray. We arrived safely, had pumpkin soup for supper.
This morning we had a great worship time with our new friends, then a tour of the compound. This afternoon we will be going out to buy supplies for the new school and tomorrow we start the work project.
We have all been getting new nicknames. Heather is called Madame Gerry. Ben wants to be called TiBennie - Ti means small. Other names to come.
Our handimen have already made a few repairs - we would call them minor at home but thay are very important here.
Tempature is about 32 degrees and muggy.
We thank you for all your prayers helping us to arrive safely.
God bless you all and keep checking the blog as we will work at keeping you as well posted as we can.

Wow! Sorry to hear about Karen's attack but happy to hear you all survived Haitian driving. Fun, hey? Wish we were there, too. Don't forget to give out my hugs.

Glad you are all safe. We have been with you all the way. Driving in Yarmouth will not be near as bad after being in Haiti. Say hello to everyone on the Compound.
